Pre-departure Arrangements

Make sure you have:

• Received confirmation of enrolment as well as information package containing information about the course you have enrolled in, accommodation options and important dates etc

• Arranged accommodation and flight tickets

• Exchanged sufficient Australian dollar for instant use, like cash or traveler cheques

• Someone to pick you up at the airport or a local contact number of a person you can rely on

Australian Quarantine Requirements

Australia has strict quarantine regulations. Fruits, vegetables and timbers should never be packed into your luggage. Heavy fine will be imposed if the law is breached.

Reminder

It is by law that you must not withdraw from the course within a 6-month period. If the course is less than 6 months, then the required length of stay will be the duration of the course. However, you can change the course with permission from Department of Home Affairs (DHA). This will incur charge unless the education institution fails to provide the course.

The conditions in your student visa must be complied during your stay in Australia. It is very important that you are aware of these conditions. Visa cancellation is unavoidable if students violate those conditions.

Visa must be renewed before the current visa expired. With a valid visa, you are free to leave and re-enter Australia before the expiry date.

After completing higher education, overseas students may apply for Australia Temporary Resident or Australia permanent resident under the Skilled - Independent category. Information can be obtained from DHA.
